Full Description

NH43SW55
RCAHMS 1997, URQ97 207 and 208
Two hut circles, a scatter of clearance cairns and a shooting butt stand on a broad terrace above the W bank of the Allt a' Bhaile Uachdaraich. The NW hut circle (207) NH44825 32659 Stands within an enclosed pasture field, close to its N end. Oval in plan it measures 9.9m ENE to WSW by 6.7m across within a stony bank spread upto 3m thick and 0.3m high. The entrance is on the ENE. The interior is disturbed and it is possible that a robber trench lies along the line of the inner wall face on the SSE. The SE hut circle (208) NH44947 32590 stands to the E of the field, on the side of a knoll. It measures 9.2m NNE-SSW and 8.4m across within a stoney bank 1.7m thick and 0.3m high with an entrance on the SSW. Although the Hut circle is obscured by peat and heather, a few possible facing stones protrude from the bank. Between the two hut circles there are at least 6 small cairns, all of them within the enclosed field. A shooting butt stands 140m to the WSW of the NW hut circle at NH4468 3262.
