Full Description
Site visit undertaken on 11.09.01 with members of the Moidart Local History Group. Building footings heavily obscured by bracken, so no comprehensive examination was possible, but fairly extensive remains are present. Additional information (see assoc docs) from Alaisdair Roberts, Bracora.

(Area NM 698 922) An illegal Roman Catholic Bishop's house (? Bishop Macdonald) was established on Eilean Ban, Loch Morar, in 1650. It was burnt down by the Duke of Cumberland in 1746.

According to Monseigneur MacInnes, Bishop Macdonald converted an existing farmhouse for use as a Roman Catholic college in 1714, which, as stated, was destroyed in 1746. Site of minor significance and not visited.
