Full Description

An area of worked quartz blades and scatters near the summit of Beinn Fhada at GR. NH 017 193.

On the west face of Beinn Fhada (Kintail Forest) less than 15 / 20m from the trig point there are numerous large white quartz boulders with lithic scatters in between them. Most of the lithics are small - a couple of cm long - merely fragments, but there were some longer blades. Almost everything was worked. At least three more scatters can be seen immediately beside each other and disturbance appears to be minimal. The quartz boulders appear to have been broken open and the blades struck from them.
