Full Description
NM39NE 4 3531 9589.
This unusual enclosure, probably a shieling or bothy, is situated on a knoll immediately E of an unnamed stream. It is oval, measuring 4.7m by 3.6m within a wall 1.6m thick and 0.7m high, with the entrance probably on the E. Two cupboard-like chambers with lintelled roofs have been built against the inner face of the wall, and other upright stones suggest that there may originally have been more.
Visited by RCAHMS May 1983.
The structure reported to the NMAS in 1978, together with photographs , is probably this shieling bothy.
Information from a letter from Dr W P B Stonehouse, 82 Mossley Rd, Oldham, Lancs, 22 September 1978
