Full Description

NJ02SE 6 081 209.

Centred at NJ 081 209 on a SSW facing slope at about 1350 ft OD is a field system marked by stone clearance heaps & lynchets. Two typical fields measured about 40.0m x 10.0m and 20.0m x 8.0m.
Near the SE end of the system are two hut platforms (A and B) levelled into the slope with well defined back scarps & stony frontal build-ups. There is no trace of stone walling around them.
'A' measures c 13.0m WNW - ESE by c 12.0m transversely. The surface is a little irregular due to sheep tracks crossing it and uneven peat build-ups. The entrance is not evident.
'B' obscured by deep heather measures c 11.0m WNW - ESE by c 8.0m transversely.
Two or three platforms two to three hundred metres to the west, may be denuded hut platforms but soil creep has obscured their outline and they could equally as well be small cultivation plots.
Huts surveyed at 1/10000.
Visited by OS (A A) 28 February 1972.
