Full Description

"RUBOACHANE” appears in early charters of 1546 or 8. It would have contained about five families and was probably cleared between 1793 and 1806. The existing large dry stone walled livestock enclosure was built in part from the stone of the houses of the settlement in the second quarter of the 19th century by Finlay Murchison ( Fionnladh gobha -“Finlay the smith”). Information and photos of this settlement site were submitted by local researcher Paul Swan. The remnants of houses and storage structures are still visible. <1>-<4>
