12 April 1847, SALIMA. 111 [gross tonnage]. Foundered at Dunnet Head.

Wick, 9th April. The SELINA, of Glasgow, from Kissock (Inverness) to Islay, drove from her anchors in Scrabster Roads during a very heavy gale last night, & foundered on Dunnet Head; all hands lost, except the master, who is said to have been washed on shore.

Huna, (Pentland Frith), 10th Apl.. 'The SALIMA, of Glasgow, and not the SELINA, as reported in Lloyd's List of the 12th, foundered off Dunnet Head, 8th inst.'. [record received incomplete].

NMRS, MS/829/67 (no. 20).

(Classified as brig, with cargo of grain: date of loss cited as 9 April 1847). Salima: this vessel was wrecked on Dunnet Head. Capt. Menzies.
Registration: Glasgow. Built 1833. 98 tons burthern. Length: 19m. Beam: 5m.
(Location of loss cited as N58 40.33 W3 22.0).
