Eigg [name centred NM 47 87].
27 November 1853, THEOBALD MATHEWS, schooner, 100 ton, 6 men, Galway to Liverpool, barley, wind SW force 10, stormy, value #300, total wreck, Point Chatbaird, Isle of Skye. She had anchored near Eig Island, and the crew deserted her, she was then driven Stranded and went to pieces. Lloyds Agent. Lloyds List.

Corry by Broadford, Isle of Skye, 4th Dec. The THEOBALD MATTHEW, (schr.), of and from Galway for Liverpool, went on shore on the Point of Strahad, during the night of the 27th Nov., and has become a total wreck. [record received incomplete].
NMRS, MS/829/67 (no. 471).
(Name cited as Theobald Matthew and classified as schooner: no cargo specified but date of loss cited as 27 November 1853). This vessel was wrecked on Point Chatbaird (possibly Point of Strahad) south of Loch Bracadale.
