On OS 1st edition map this is marked as a sawmill.
For mill dams see NH91SW0060 and 61.
There is a possible second sawmill on the Milton Cottage (west) side of the burn, where the side of the burn is built up and there is a large flat area.

Footings of mill, with breached mill dams upstream. Foundations of several rectangular houses in the area.
