For the adjoining 16 Shore Street see:
ND16NW 18 ND 11960 68667
On the N side of Shore Street is a 17th century dwelling; it is two-storeyed, 57ft long, with a 6 1/2ft diameter turret containing the stair. On the skew-put of the W gable are the initials D W K R and the date '1686'.
RCAHMS 1911.
This building is reputed to be the Thurso Turnpike where the old stage coaches used to start.

ND 1196 6866. This building, now completely restored, is as described.
Visited by OS (E G C) 18 April 1962.
No change to the previous field report other than the lower of two windows in the turret has been blocked off.
