NMRS Report: (27/05/2004)
NH43SW 4741924 30357
This robbed building lies in birchwood to the SW of Braefield. It measures 10.2m from ENE to WSW by 3.8m transversely over wall footings no more than 0.2m in height. A stance to the W may mark the site of a second building.
The building is depicted roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1876, sheet xxviii) and may also be the building depicted at this location on James Thomson's 1833 'Plan of the Estate of Lakefield' (National Archives of Scotland RHP 23996). The OS Name Book (ONB 1871) describes Braefield as 'a small cultivated district containing several cothouses'.
