Kyleakin, near Inverness, 29th August, the FANNY (schr.), of Douglas, I.M., Cowley, from Runcorn to Wick, with salt, in passing through Castle Moil sound, yesterday, struck on a sunken rock and was run ashore near the quay here, in a sinking state: the cargo is melting out of the vessel and is likely to be all lost, but the vessel will probably be got to a convenient place for repairs.

The location cited for this loss is essentially tentative. Caisteal Maol (NG72NE 1) is at NG 7580 2634, and Castle Moil Sound is presumably to be equated with Kyle Akin.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably on grounds of her successful recovery.
