(NG 247 422) Varkasaig: shown as a township in 1824 (Information from W Johnson's Map of Skye, 1824)
Visited by OS (A C) 12 January 1961.
The site of the depopulated township of Varkasaig has been cleared and planted by the Forestry Commission. The aerial photographs show at least 14 ruined houses with some outbuildings and enclosures (RAF AP CPE/Scot/UK/175: 4149-50)
Lazy-beds covered large areas of the surrounding land.

The site of the depopulated settlement of Varkasaig. The remains of at least fourteen houses plus associated byres and enclosures are visible on aerial photographs. The site now lies under fallen and tangled conifer woodland.
