Full Description

NMRS Report: (19/10/2004)
NG88NE 32 87487 86680

A light anti-aircraft gun-emplacement has been identified from a RAF vertical air photograph (CPE/Scot/UK183, 1021, flown 8 October 1946) on the W-facing slope of Leathad Mor. The earth banked emplacement was accessed by a track which left the A832 road at NG 87436 86437. Also visible is a second small earth banked position which may have enclosed range finding equipment and a small building in the gulley about 30m to the NE. It is not known whether these structures survive.
The current OS digital 1:2500 scale map shows the track running to a rectangular area at the same location as the gun-emplacement. Only one light anti-aircraft battery is recorded in the Public Record Office (PRO) in the Loch Ewe area under Port 'A' (WO 166/7309).
