NMRS Report: (24/11/2006 13:19:23)
ND34SW 137 34451 42921 & 34447 42913
The 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix) depicts a `boiler' close to the E shore of Loch Sarclet, some 170m SW of the nearest roofed steading (ND34SW 136). It had been removed by 1905 and is not shown on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix). All that can now be seen are two grass-grown stony mounds about 5.4m apart. The NNE mound (YARROWS04 544) measures 3.5m from NNE to SSW by 2.8m transversely and 0.4m in height, while the SSW mound measures 4.1m from NE to SW by 3.1m transversely and 0.6m in height.
