Full Description

NMRS Report: (30/06/2005)
ND34SW 142 34166 42065

An arc of bank situated in an area of rough, peaty moorland about 590m E of Mains of Ulbster farmsteading (ND34SW 304) may be the remains of an enclosure The C-shaped grass-grown stony bank is up to 2m in thickness and 0.2m in height, and the open side faces WNW, measuring 9.6m between the two terminals. The enclosure is not depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxx), but the map shows an area of what appears to be improved ground immediately to the W, the clearing of which may have resulted in the removal of the W side of the enclosure.
