This disused quarry is situated at the edge of a cultivated field 460m NNE of Borrowstone farmsteading (ND34SW 315). Roughly oval on plan, it measures about 33m from NE to SW by a maximum of 19m transversely; its interior is waterlogged and there is a low mound of spoil on the E side. The quarry is first depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix), but it had gone out of use by the beginning of the 20th century and is annotated `Old Quarry¿ on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix).
