NMRS Report: (09/11/2005)
ND34SW 202 33259 44146
This disused quarry is situated within a cultivated field 450m NE of Borrowstone farmsteading (ND34SW 315). Roughly oval on plan, it measures about 10m from NE to SW by a maximum of 7.5m transversely and it has been dug at least 1.5m deep into the top of a low knoll. The grass-grown interior is now partly filled with field-cleared stones and boulders. The quarry is first depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix), but it had gone out of use by the beginning of the 20th century and is annotated `Old Quarry¿ on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix).
