This disused quarry is situated at the edge of a cultivated field 155m SSW of Borrowston farmsteading (ND34SW 315). Roughly oval on plan, it measures about 19m from N to S by a maximum of 15m transversely and it has been dug into a gentle E-facing slope to a depth of about 1.2m. The quarry, which is partly filled with field-cleared stones, is first depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxix), but it had gone out of use by the beginning of the 20th century and is annotated `Old Quarry¿ on the 2nd edition of the map (1907, sheet xxix).
