Full Description

The North of Scotland Archaeological Society undertook a survey of a previously unrecorded ringed earthwork in Achnasoul Wood, near Marybank in 2005. Nearby, 32m to the north, was another feature, thought to be a hut circle or enclosure. It was roughly circular, with raised banks and has an internal diameter of 11m. The earth banks had a spread of between 3 and 4m and were 0.3 - 0.5m in height. There could be an entrance to the southeast, but a modern track has damaged the area here. The enclosure had been planted with trees. <1>
