On the Rudh'an Dunain peninsula, in the neighbourhood of Loch na h'Airde, are two groups of hut circles. (For one of these groups situated on the slope below the occupied cave see NG31NE 5).

Not found and no local information could be gained on their whereabouts.
Visited by OS (C F W) 9 April 1961.

This record seems to be inaccurate. The so-called hut circles below the cave are SMR NG31NE0009. The others are probably SMR NG31NE0011.

NOTE: MHG4896 and MHG4899 currently appear to be nothing more than different interpretations of the same features arising from the assignment of two different record numbers by the OS. However, they may originally have come from an attempt to create separate records for two groups of hut circles seen by Scott who only gave the general location for one of them. Wood, Wildgoose, Birch and Carmichael then seem to have added to the confusion by bringing in an additional site (see above- NG31NE0011 - MHG6451) which is clearly unrelated. They may have seen hut circles in the vicinity of MHG6451 during their site visit in 2002, but unfortunately there is no formal, detailed, description nor any annotated map to corroborate that. Because of vegetation cover no hut circles can be seen on any available vertical aerial photographs at that location [ISL 29/04/2025].
