Full Description

A hut circle at Suisnish, Raasay.

On a levelled platform at the top of an E-facing slope are the remains of what appears to be a hut circle. It was recorded here during a field survey of the Suisnish area of Raasay by ACFA, who have conducted surveys on the island every year since 1995. The structure is around 8m in diameter and over 240 degrees of the circle is intact. The walls comprise large stones with small stones used as infill, and survive to a height of 0.4m. No entrance could be discerned but it would appear likely that it is in the E side, which has not survived well. <1>

GIS spatial data amended in 2019 according to location as seen on 2009 vertical APs. <2>
