NN58NE 7 5614 8913
The remains of a corduroy road were recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The roadway consists of horizontall and parallel logs laid together to form a surface. It was used as a trackway by the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit, who worked in the forest in WWII.
