NS58NE 15 5724 8905

A cairn was recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The cairn is located on top of a bedrock outcrop within a forestry plantation. It is constructed of flat slabs with smaller rounded stones on top. The base of the cairn is a regular four-sided square with sides 1m in length. The cairn then tapers in towards the top at a height of 1m.
