Full Description

NMRS Report: (21/11/2005)
NN59SE 47 5872 9016

The remains of a sub-circular drystone walled structure were recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. It was built against a steep rocky outcrop on the banks of the Allt Tarsuinn. It measures around 2.1m x 2.45m and survives up to 8-10 courses in height (o.65m). It may have been a temporary shelter or shooting butt.
