The remains of a light railway were recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The railway was built by the Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit during the Second World War. The railway survives in 5 sections running approximately NE-SW. The remains consist of timber with rectangular notches and iron nails protruding. The remains do not appear to be in situ, but have been disturbed.
