NN58NE 27 5587 8912 to 5554 8905
The remains of a large drystone constructed dyke was recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The dyke runs for around 350m from the western banks of the River Pattack at Bail a Chuil to the fringes of the forest to the east of Gallovie. The dyke is up to 1.2m in height in places and collpased in others. The size of the dyke suggests it was a substantial land boundary.
