Full Description
NMRS Report: (22/11/2005)
NN58NE 29 5577 8975
The remains of several buildings and enclosures were recorded here during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest. The buildings are located just outside the forest on a small knoll. There are 6 rectangular buildings, defined by collapsed walls. There is a large central enclosure, within which there is clear rig-and-furrow cultivation. A well-defined kiln exists in the trees to the west.
