Two possible structures relating to Newfoundland Overseas Forestry Unit activities recorded during a detailed archaeological survey of Strathmashie Community Forest near Laggan, Highland. The Unit worked in the forest during World War 2. The remains include several large timbers upstream from a series of railway sleepers lying across a burn with a stone-lined cutting in the western bank. It is thought they may represent the remains of a dam, which controlled the rate of flow of the burn downstream. The survey was carried out to assess the evidence for past human use and to ascertain whether there was enough archaeology to develop a heritage trail in the forest.
