This ruinous farmstead comprises two parallel ranges, the longer lying on the NW being the better preserved and still standing 1.9m in height at the wallhead over roughly coursed flagstone walls. This range is divided into three compartments, that on the NE being a round-ended kiln barn with opposing doors. The second range may have been a cottage. The farmstead is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map, and by 1907 a horse-engine had been added to the NW side of the barn (Caithness 1877 and 1907, sheet xii). The site was visited in 1993 and 2000.

Photographs of the kiln barn were submitted to the HER in March 2010 by David Barclay of Caithness Planning Office. <2>
