Full Description
NMRS Report: (21/12/2006 14:32:43)
ND06NE 81 07717 65771.
Now abandoned and partially roofless, this farmstead comprises a range of L-shaped plan that incorporates three two-roomed cottages, all with fireplaces, a barn, a stable, a cart shed, a byre and a lean-to pigsty. It is built of roughly coursed flagstone and has slate or corrugated iron roofs. A comparison between the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map indicates that the shorter arm of the range is a later addition, and that a horse-engine platform was introduced over this same period (Caithness 1877 and 1907, sheet xi). The site was visited in 2000.
