Full Description
NMRS Report: (21/02/2007 09:25:14)
NJ02SW 66 NJ 02612 20629
This limekiln is situated at the foot of a WSW-facing slope in woodland 180m SE of Garlyne. It has been reduced to a pile of rubble measuring about 5m from NE to SW by 4m transversely and the pot has been set into the slope to a depth of about 2m. On the date of visit the kiln was largely obscured by a heap of brash, presumably gathered from the surrounding woodland. The kiln is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet XLVIA; 1902, sheet XLVIA).
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 5 September 2006.
