NH92NE 49 NH 98799 26641
This building has been built 750m NNE of Balnuick farmsteading, on the leading edge of an E-facing terrace in what is now a field of unimproved pasture. Rectangular on plan, it measures 10.5m from NNE to SSW by 4.4m transversely over stone wall-footings 1m in thickness and 0.5m in height. There is an entrance in the ESE side and small outshot, reduced to low, grass-grown footings, is attached to the NNE end. The building lies on the N side of a trapezoidal drystone-walled enclosure, the NE side of which springs off the S corner of the building.
The building is depicted roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874-5, sheet xxxiv), but it had been abandoned by the end of the 19th century and is shown unroofed on the 2nd edition of the map (1903, sheet xxxiv).
Visited by RCAHMS (TIP, GB) 13 October 2006.
