The remains of this farmstead are situated at the foot of the SW flank of Gorton Hill, some 330m N of Wester Gorton. As depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Elginshire 1874, sheet xxxii), the farmstead comprised two unroofed buildings about 45m apart, of which only that on the SE is now visible. Situated 35m S of an occupied cottage, it measures 6.4m from NE to SW by 4.5m transversely over low, grass-grown footings.
In addition to the two earlier unroofed buildings, the 2nd edition of the map (1905, sheet xxxii.NE) depicts two other, roofed, structures. One is the cottage that is still occupied and was not noted in detail on the date of visit; the other (NJ 01005 29109) stood about 20m N of the cottage and survives as footings measuring 6.4m from NW to SE by 3.6m transversely overall.
Visited by RCAHMS (TIP, AG) 10 October 2006.
