NMRS Report: (27/03/2007 14:16:29)
NJ02SE 46 NJ 07205 24507

Two buildings are situated on the W bank of the Allt Chuirn, some 280m SW of Aultcharn. The NW building (NJ 07195 24914) measures 9.4m from NNW to SSE by 5.4m transversely over stone walls up to 1m in height. There is an entrance in the ENE side and an outshot, which is open-sided to the ENE, is attached to the NNW end. The second building (NJ 07215 24499) lies 15m to the SE, but only its NNW end is now visible, measuring 4.4m square over walls 0.4m in height. A disused concrete sheep-dip is visible at the N end of the building.
Both buildings are depicted roofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xlviA); on the 2nd edition of the map (Inverness-shire 1902, sheet xlviA) the NW building is shown roofed, the other unroofed, and they are annotated 'Sheepfold'.
The footings of a bridge (NJ 07236 24510) are visible on both banks of the Allt Chuirn immediately E of the buildings. These footings comprise mortared stone walls measuring about 3m in length by 0.8m in thickness and up to 1.5m in height. The decking of the bridge has been removed, but a ramp approaches the void from a farm track on either side of the burn.
Visited by RCAHMS (TP, IP) 24 October 2006.
