Full Description

NMRS Report: (19/02/2007 15:10:17)
NJ01NE 76 NJ 05147 19155

Two hut circles are situated adjacent to one another at the foot of a gentle SW-facing slope in heather and grass moorland, some 430m WNW of Dorback Lodge. The E hut circle (NJ 05153 19152) measures 7.4m from NW to SE by 5.8m transversely within a wall reduced to a stony bank up to 2m in thickness and 0.5m in height. Most of the N half of the hut-circle was obscured by dense vegetation on the date of visit, but the entrance is visible on the SSE. The second hut circle (NJ 05142 19155), which abuts the first, measures about 8.5m in diameter within a wall reduced to a stony bank up to 2m in thickness and 0.4m in height. Much of the wall on the E and NE side is missing, its line here in part overlain by the W side of the E hut circle. The interior has been levelled into the slope and the entrance is probably on the SE.
Visited by RCAHMS (TIP, AGCH) 23 August 2006.
