Full Description
NMRS Report: (19/02/2007 11:42:20)
NG62SW 8003 c. 64 23
N57 14 W5 55
NLO: Broadford [name: NG 647 233]
Broadford Bay [name centred NG 653 239]
Inner Sound [name centred NG 64 40].
Possibly on map sheet NG62SE.
Kyleakin, 28th Sept. The CYMRIE LLOYD (smk), of Stornoway, while running for the harbour of Broadford, on the 23rd Sept., missed the entrance, came on shore at the Millburn, and sustained considerable damage.
Source: LL, No. 16,996, London, Saturday, October 3 1868.
NMRS, MS/829/72 (no. 11500).
The location of the Millburn cannot be established from the available map evidence. 'Broadford Harbour' is presumably to be equated with the Old Pier (NG62SW 96) at NG 64532 23550.
The loss of this vessel is not cited by I G Whittaker (1998), presumably confirming her successful recovery.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 17 April 2002.
