Full Description
The bridge is of a three span simply supported type of construction using precast concrete beams. Masonry is used at the abutments, piers and parapets. Settlement of the south abutment caused a large crack to appear in the parapet. The temporary props visible in the photographs are built up using a proprietary propping system founded on concrete bases. The watercourse is guided under the bridge by masonry training walls and this feature is to be retained in the new bridge. Photographs of this structure, with these accompanying notes, were submitted prior to its demolition and replacement. <1>
