Full Description
NC27SE 20 NC 26553 72999.
Set of mounds and depressions that may form a shieling settlement. The site is visible from the road and seems to consist of about 5 shielings. The shielings range in size from 2 metres to 5 metres in diameter. The site is surrounded and slowly being enveloped by peat bog. The site may be contemporary with CWHI09 or CWHI 28. There was no possible way of dating the site in the time. Site recorded in plan.
Street 2001, 18-19.
A group of possible shielings on a low-lying grazing pasture: From the height of the road it was possible to identify four soil marks which may be the remains of a shieling complex. The soil marks are fairly well hidden by the surrounding moorland vegetation which makes their existence somewhat tenuous. The problem is compounded by the fact that the site is slowly being enveloped by peat bog.
