Full Description

NC87NE 8003 unlocated
NLO: Strathy Point [name: NC 827 699]
Pentland Firth [name centred ND 35 81].
Possibly within Maritime - Orkney.

(No classification specified: cargo cited as logs, and date as 3 November 1840). Unknown: much wreckage and cargo from two vessels, presumed wrecked 30 miles North of Strathy [Point].
(Location cited as N59 0.0 W4 0.0).
I G Whittaker 1998.
The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary. The unverified location that is cited by Whittaker falls beyond the area of permitted RCAHMS lat/long coordinates.
These vessels presumably foundered offshore, possibly within the area designated as Maritime - Orkney.
The date cited by Whittaker is presumably that of the reported discovery of wreckage.
Information from RCAHMS (RJCM), 29 October 2008. <1>
