NLO: Pentland Firth [name centred ND 35 81].
Possibly on map sheet NC76SW.
(No classification specified: cargo cited as wine, brandy, spices and iron, and date of loss as 1671). Unknown: this vessel was 'cast upon the coast of Strathnaver'. Robert Gordon, son [of the] Earl of Sutherland dies.
Registration: Dutch. 250 tons burthern.

The map sheet assigned to this record is essentially arbitrary, being derived from the unverified location that is cited by Whittaker. The available evidence may indicate that the vessel stranded at or near the ill-defined mouth of the River Naver, which debouches into Torrisdale Bay at NC c. 69 61, opposite Bettyhill. The area is one of extensive (and presumably migratory) sand dunes.
