Full Description
NM46NW 8010 c. 41 67
N56 43 W6 14
NLO: Point of Ardnamurchan [name: NM 415 675]
Sound of Mull [name centred NM 58 46].
(No classification specified: cargo cited as timber, and date as 1 December 1832). Unknown: wreckage [found] at Point of Ardnamurchan. Capt. McKinlay.
(Location of loss cited as N56 43.67 W6 114.50).
I G Whittaker 1998.
The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative. The Point of Ardnamurchan itself forms an ill-defined projection at the end of a lengthy peninsula. Ardnamurchan (Point) Lighthouse (NM46NW 4.00) is at NM 41587 67473.
This record records the discovery of wreckage, apparently from a vessel which foundered offshore, possibly beyond Scottish waters. The date cited is presumably that of discovery, rather than loss.
