The location assigned to this record is essentially tentative, being derived from the unverified location that is cited by Whittaker. Beacon Rock is presumably to be equated with Sgeir Dhearg, a prominent skerry situated within the mouth of Mallaig harbour. The beacon itself (NM69NE 27) is situated at NM 67764 97546.
