MHG52497 - Site of bridge and former road alignment, Drochaid Abhainn an Tora
The site of a bridge which is depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map c.1877 and was replaced some time after 1966.
Type and Period (1)
- BRIDGE (Extant, 19th Century to 20th Century - 1801 AD? to 1970 AD? (between))
- None recorded
The site of the original bridge was visited during a walkover survey in October 2007. There is now no trace of the bridge, however on both sides of the river sections of dyke and avenues of mature beech trees run to where it was presumably located. These dykes are low and broad and are probably contemporary with the construction of the original road. <1>
