Full Description
Three definite and one possible shieling huts were identified during a walkover survey in April 2009.
a. is on a slight spur, runs along the contour and is visible as low grassy footings of a rectangular building measuring 5 x 3m, with a small annexe on the SW end
b. is 12 m to the east and runs down the slope, measuring 4.5 x 3m, with a possible entrance in the NW corner and a circular annexe measuring 2 x 2m at the upper end
c. is 18m ESE of b. and is the best preserved, measuring 4.5m in length with a square annexe measuring 2 x 2m at the lower end
c. is a possible fourth hut 30m south of c, visible as a level platform dug into the bank and measuring 5 x 2.5m
To the east of this group is a section of turf and rubble dyke running N-S for 50m. <1>
