Full Description
Series of enclosures, suggesting several phases of construction:
a) Centred at NC 3883 6772 is a large rectangular enclosure, measuring 38 m NE/SW x 31 m. Defined by low largely turf-covered bank. Small cairn (possibly earlier part of cairnfield 114?) in E interior. Boulders visible in bank, especially along E side. Enclosure follows topography on E and W. On N, bank continues up slope for c 35 m as sinuous spread of rubble.
b) At S end of the W wall of (a) is a small enclosure, 5 m E/W x 7 m, which abuts it on the W. At NC 3883 6772.
c) At the SE corner of (a) is another enclosure, 6.9 m N/S x 5.8 m, which adjoins an outcrop. At NC 3886 6771.
d) 27 m from S side of (a) is an arcing ring of cairns running E/W and then turning to N towards (a). This encloses an area on two sides, 27 m N/S x 18 m. There is an arc of 6 stones in the middle of this area which is unintelligible. Centred at NC 3883 6768.
Flat ground below scarp to WSW and short break of slope to ENE.
Enclosures for ?stock control.
