Full Description
Fragments of walling indicating extensive field system.
a) Length of walling consisting of fairly intermittent stones flush with turf, running NW/SE diagonally across contour for 29 m; some burrowing in vicinity
b) Another length at NC 3787 6866 (c 60 m to W of (a)) on same contour, running NE/SW for c 50 m
c) Part of extensive field system, represented by these ephemeral lines of intermitten stones flush with turf or nearly so. Also discernible as changes in vegetation, with strips of heather running broadly N/S or NNW/SSE downslope.
d) At NC 3800 6851, another short length of ?walling, 3.10 m long E/W, 7 boulders in line, flush with ground at right angle to axis of fields and possibly related and similar in character to lines of stone between fields.
Sloping ground leading down to sea cliffs, N-facing over Balnakeil Bay. Under short turf.
Remains of strip fields. Structures 165, 164 are possibly associated with their use.
Recommendations: Survey to establish pattern, character and extent of field system. <1><2>
