Summary

A number of sections of turf boundary bank were identified in walkover survey at Forss Wind farm. It is suggested that they represent the remains of the township of Borrowstone.

Full Description

A number of sections of turf boundary bank were identified along the western boundary of Forss win farm, during a walkover survey of the site. It is suggested that, together with enclosures and house plot features on the site, may represent the remains of the township of Borrowstone. <1> <2>

These are not convincing at all when the locations are viewed in the LiDAR data gathered by AOC Archaeology in 2011 as part of the mitigation for the visual impact on the archaeological landscape associated with the proposed Baillie Hill windfarm, Caithness. [IS-L 22/07/2020].
