This building is contemporary with the smelter building, and may represent a laboratory associated with the works. Now in use as a hostel and camp site, popular with walkers on the West Highland Way. <1>
A laboratory is mentioned in the Canmore record, but it is not clear whether it is referring to this building. <2>
