Full Description
A milestone bearing a cut benchmark and the inscription ‘2 MILES FROM THE LIGHT HOUSE’.
The milestone stands at the side of the road to Dunnet Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1831 and the road was constructed at the same time. The milestone is likely to date from then. It is shown on the 1:10,850 Ordnance Survey map published 1876 (survey 1873).
